How long was elijah at the brook cherith

Get bitter? Curse God and die? There is another scene in this drama. Scene Four: Elijah took the little boy up to his room and laid him on his bed.

He prayed earnestly to the Lord God three times. God heard and answered this prayer. Breath was given back to the little lad.

It was a miracle of resurrection! The grieving widow and her living son were reunited. There was rejoicing. There was a celebration. A miracle had happened. What a turn of events! You fill in the blank. God was greater than Ahab. Greater than the brook. Greater than the dead boy. Greater than anything. That's the truth I need to hear.

You need to hear it, too. I do not know what is happening in the circle of your life, but I know that God is greater. Whatever it is, whoever it is, does not matter. It is an important thing being where God wants us to be and doing what God wants us to do. Elijah went and did according to the word of God.

Obedience was, and still is, the key. Note his response. There was no doubt, no defiance, and no delay. He was obedient. After getting alone with God, being in his will and moving in obedience then, and only then, did Elijah see the released provision of God upon him.

Then in verse 2 God tells him what to do next. That same pattern runs throughout this story. If God is not making your next step clear, perhaps it could be that you have not finished what he has called you to do already. Move forward with all that God has given you to do now, and then trust Him to show you the next step at the right time. I take that phrase from John Bunyan. His Cherith experience came when he was thrown into prison.

He was a pastor serving the Lord and he had a family. It was a time of persecution for believers like us in England, and Bunyan was seized from his church and from his family and incarcerated in the town of Bedford.

God took Bunyan out of public ministry and hid him in the prison. I can no longer live on my family… on my friends…on my pleasures… [or,] on my ministry.

I have to live on God, who is invisible. When you come to the place where God hides you, know this: If you will walk with him in faith and obedience, he will lead you and he will feed you. Elijah had great faith in God. Even when God told him that the ravens would feed him he was absolutely certain that what God had spoken would surely come to pass. His dealings with man were straightforward. He admonished king Ahab immediately and unreservedly.

He remained pure towards the widow whom God told him to stay with. Elijah was also a man of courage. His victory on Mount Carmel revived the faith of the Israelites tremendously. After Elijah completed his mighty work on earth God sent a whirlwind to take him to heaven.

He was the second person who went up to heaven without tasting death. Human wisdom will never be able to comprehend the mighty works of God. Why did God not send a clean animal to bring food to Elijah? If God wills, even unclean animals can be useful tools to Him.
