Its eastern terminus is the New Lanark World Heritage Site, and there are a great number of places of interest to explore along the way. The route is partially waymarked and offers generally straightfoward walking. Paths can be muddy in places and many sections are unmarked, although the route is still being improved. In winter some sections can flood but an alternative is available. Most walkers make use of public transport when tackling the Clyde Walkway, but there is overnight accommodation available for those walking the route in a single journey.

Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and obviously has a vast range of hotels and guest houses. There are also several hostels. Motherwell also has hotels and is close by Strathclyde loch. Finally there are Hotels at New Lanark and in nearby Lanark. The creatures that live in the Clyde river are Eels ,graylings, Dace , barbels ,Roach ,tench ,Flounder ,Rudd , ruffle ,smelt , trout ,bleak ,salmon and minnow.
