We shall drive down to Como the next day and we are staying in Torno for 5 nights. We plan to travel around Como Lake and other lakes every day. We have done this before and we think it's the best way to get to places around the area.

We also intend to take ferries to visit the surroundings. If your parents arrive in Milan , why not rent the car there. Milan is very close to Como.

After looking around I think I will base them in Como. They will be there for 3 nights and that seems to be a good spot to start from.
