Why is hula hooping so hard
Some people think that they cannot hoop because they are overweight or a bit too squidgy round the middle. The key to learning to hula hoop if you have a larger body girth is to use an extra large hoop with a large pipe diameter like the In2Hula extra large fitness hoops.
There is actually a Plus Size Hooping movement. Plus size hooper Shannon Herrington wrote a very informative and honest blog post entitled Can you be fat and hoop? There is also a Curvy Hoopers Forum on Hoopers. I remember my first hoop class with Bernadette three years ago.
I watched her at the classes and wondered if I would ever be able to hoop as confidently as she did and do the tricks she did. I felt clumsy and unco-ordinated and old — I was It has taken me three years of fairly regular hoop practice to begin to get to a point where I am starting to have some confident flow to my hooping.
Remember that everyone starts knowing nothing and has to learn and practice. Some people will be ahead of you on the learning journey, and in time, a growing number will be behind. Different people learn and progress at different speeds, but everyone is able to improve.
By doing so, you are telling a story that you end up believing. Start telling a different story, one in which you can do anything you put your mind to. I believe in you and I know you can believe in yourself, too. Thank you!!! So, this has been bothering me for a while, and I finally went seeking answers. You are amazing!! Loved it so much! I purchased a hula hoop from a big box store a few years ago and failed miserably at it, after many attempts. I may have to look further into trying again with the proper tools, thanks to your suggestions and your assurance that I CAN still do it if properly equipped!!!
Thank you! Thank you for your comment. Hey Carol, I am not sure about your area. I thought because I have a belly now and my hips have already gone so big. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. You could never do it as a kid. You have no rhythm. You could just never get the hang of it. Reason 1 Your hoop is way too small. You also want to make sure that when you first start your hoop spinning with your hands that the hoop is level to the ground!
There are many different types of hoop tubing and this makes a big difference in how easy it is to keep your new hula hoop up. Bare polypro will be too light as a beginner hoop anyways, but the texture of the hoop is also very slippery. Slippery hoops will slide downwards a lot faster than grippy hoops like taped fitness hoops.
What makes these hoops grip onto clothing and skin better is gaffer tape. Gaffer tape has the texture of fabric and often make up half of the tape on a fitness hoop. The type of tape on your hoop can make all the difference!! This polypro hoop is beautiful, but it is also a bit slippery for new hoopers!
Hula hooping has been growing in popularity each and every year with adults and kids alike. Hula hooping is fun, can help you lose weight , and can be done at any age!
If you are on Instagram or facebook you will find many videos of adults hooping. If you feel like you are the only hooper in town try finding fellow hoopers through different groups on Facebook, or look for a local class. No matter what, hooping will be what you make it. You can hoop because it brings you joy. You can hoop to burn calories.
See how small these kids hoops are!
