Like everyone else says, the bucks can get a tad rank during rut but it doesn't really drift through the air very far. My goats are about ' from my house and I never smell them, but the prevailing winds blow away from their pens.

Either a Pygmy or Nigerian Dwarf would work for you. I would get at least 2. They get too lonely if they are the only one. Dam raised can be friendly if they have been handled all along.
